Through more than 20 years in Naval Special Warfare, George led special operations teams on four continents as a Team Leader, Platoon Commander, Troop Commander, Task Unit Commander, Operations Officer and Executive Officer.
George Severence enlisted in the Navy in 1996 to pursue his goal of becoming a Navy SEAL. Over his 20 years in Naval Special Warfare, he rose from an enlisted SEAL sniper specializing in communications and intelligence to a junior officer leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, to a platoon commander practicing counterinsurgency in the southern Philippines, to commanding a Special Operations Task Unit in the most Iranian-influenced section of southern Iraq throughout the tumultuous drawdown of U.S. Forces. George retired from active duty in July 2016.
George is currently enjoying his newfound freedom, choosing passion projects that allow him to spend time with his family. He serves on the board of directors of Valor for Life, a non-profit organization providing veterans with no cost surgical spine care. He is a writer and sought after consultant in the outdoor and tactical industries, a partner in an exclusive hunting outfitter operation on the Hawaiian Island of Lanai, is a principle in Fortibus Group, a consulting firm bringing elite special operations experience, leadership strategies and innovation to organizations across industry, and is the author of a new political/military thriller titled The Terminal List, scheduled to be released by Simon and Schuster in early 2018.
