Grant Stinchfield and NRA Carry Guard Director of Operations and Lead Instructor, Jeff Houston, discuss a training acronym that military members and law enforcement officers often use—OODA loop.
“Observe, Orient, Decide and Act … remember that acronym and go through the OODA loop process in a moment of danger.”
Observe and Orient – Where are the exit points? Where are the areas of cover and concealment?
Decide – Based off of these observations and orienting one’s self, determine the best strategy if something were to go wrong.
Act – Move to the position that was decided upon through the observation and orientation stages.
