Overwhelming Success of NRA's School Shield Program

School security is much more than focusing on the shooter and what to do should an intruder enter a school. Prevention of that shooter ever setting foot on school grounds is a significant lesson both NRA School Shield and NRA Carry Guard instruct on. Jourdanton Police Chief Eric Kaiser discusses his experience with the NRA School Shield program. “What we learned from the school shield program were some of the things that police often don’t look at.”

A Massachusetts County Commissioner, Ron Beaty, wants to emulate Jourdanton’s example by encouraging Massachusetts schools to implement NRA School Shield statewide. Beaty believes that NRA School Shield addresses the many facets of school security and would assist in ending school violence.
